Thank you for interest in this project.

Please see the Engagement Summary (What we heard) document (above) if you are interested in what people told us.

Overview

We are upgrading the Dando's Campground on Eastern Maar Country in Otway Forest Park near Gellibrand.

Dando's Campground is a large and popular site attracting around 40,000 visitors a year. It offers a variety of recreational activities, including camping, walking and four-wheel driving. The site features a main area for camping on parallel roads amongst the planted eucalypts and has one toilet block, located at the campground entrance on the southern side.

We will be improving the layout of the site and upgrading facilities to attract more visitors during winter and key holiday periods, as well as providing more opportunities for people to use and enjoy the Gellibrand River.

Forest Fire Management Victoria campsite regulations mean there are some features which cannot be changed by this consultation. This includes:

  • rubbish is not collected
  • camping facilities are free

This campground is being upgraded as part of Victoria’s Great Outdoors, a $105.6 million investment in better walking trails, 4WD tracks, campgrounds and visitor facilities, boosting regional tourism and making it easier for Victorians to enjoy nature.

How to participate

To help us improve the area and the experience of visitors, we would like your input on the:

  • site layout, including the redesign and reconfiguration of campsites.
  • number of fire pits, toilets, barbeques and picnic tables
  • campground tracks and trails

Next steps

Your responses to the survey will be collated and incorporated into the brief for the consultant designer and project team.
