We are seeking feedback on the proposed design for the new substation that will be built on St Albans Road, St Albans.
The new substation will be built after a review of existing train power supply – and future transport needs along the Sunbury Line – showed that we needed more power in the area.
The existing substation south of Ginifer train station on St Albans Road will be replaced. The new substation will be built in a reserve next to the rail corridor and north of the Western Ring Road.
The project team recognises the St Albans area has a rich industrial and farming past. We are proposing to celebrate the grasslands, plains, industrial character and other features of the local area through the design of the substation.
We want to hear what you value about your local area and how you use it. We’re also seeking your ideas about aspects of the design, including materials and landscaping to use in the final design.
Have your say
Your feedback will be used to help us refine the design of the substation building. We expect to have designs finalised by mid-2021.
The online survey is open until 5pm Monday 8 March 2021.
Filling out this survey will help us:
- better understand the characteristics of the St Albans Road area
- understand what is important to you about the substation design
- refine the design by selecting materials and colours
- gather your ideas on how we can improve the design
- understand how we can best communicate with you.
The survey will take approximately five minutes to complete.
