The Commissioner for Residential Tenancies needs to hear first-hand from renters about their personal experiences renting a home in Victoria. Sharing your own story - or raising issues you know about that affect your community - will help the Commissioner understand what is happening on the ground, raise public awareness, and advocate for change on your behalf.
Because the private rental sector in Victoria is made up of many different rental arrangements and renters have varied needs and expectations of renting, the Commissioner also need to know some background information about you, your rental home and your renting arrangements to identify and understand the issues that are affecting different segments of the private rental sector.
The more stories the Commissioner hears from renters, the more informed and prepared she will be to champion for change on their behalf.
Note: The Commissioner can't resolve individual disputes, provide legal advice, represent renters at court or tribunal hearings or deal with complaints about government services.
If your story raises a matter or dispute that the Commissioner feels that you may need assistance to resolve, we will seek your consent to refer the matter to the government or community agency that can help you.
Tell us your story
If you share your story with the Commissioner, you will be treated with respect and your story will be treated confidentially. We will not identify you to others.
