Overview

Fire has caused significant damage to Sandringham Primary School, in particular to the west wing, south wing, and library. It is likely that much of the external heritage-listed brick wall façade can be saved.

Initial works have taken place to ensure the remaining buildings are safe and weatherproof. The school is an active construction site, and cannot be accessed by staff, students or the community until further notice.

Students were temporarily relocated to Sandringham East Primary School and Sandringham College to ensure their classes continued and they had access to facilities they need.

All students have now moved into a temporary village at Sandringham College until their rebuilt school opens in 2022.

We consulted the community on the rebuild from Tuesday 3 until Wednesday 25 March. The consultation included an online survey and a face-to-face event. The feedback from this consultation has been used to create a What We Heard report which will help shape the design of the rebuilt school.

You can download the report in Word or PDF.
