The Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations require that children with, or exposed to, certain infectious diseases don’t attend their primary school or childcare service for a certain period of time. The regulations list these conditions and the periods of exclusion that apply.
Child care centres and primary schools are places that may pose a high risk of transmission of communicable diseases. This may be due to a higher rate of physical contact between children, hygiene habits, and greater susceptibility to many infections.
