This consultation is now concluded.

The OHS Regulations Reform project included the review of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007 and the Equipment (Public Safety) Regulations 2007, and the 12 compliance codes that aligned to them.

Once reviewed and updated, following technical review and extensive stakeholder consultation, the proposed regulations and codes were made available for public comment.

New OHS and EPS Regulations

The new Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2017 (OHS Regulations) and Equipment (Public Safety) Regulations 2017 (EPS Regulations) commenced on 18 June 2017.

New compliance codes

Twelve new codes that align to the OHS Regulations have been published and are now available.

The codes are:

  • Confined spaces
  • Demolition
  • Excavation
  • Facilities in construction
  • Hazardous manual handling
  • Hazardous substances
  • Managing asbestos in workplaces
  • Noise
  • Plant
  • Prevention of falls in general construction
  • Prevention of falls in housing construction
  • Removing asbestos in workplaces
