Consultation has concluded

The Victorian Government has committed to fix South Road Moorabbin, to get drivers in the south east where they need to go sooner and safer. This will be achieved by upgrading intersections along South Road Between Nepean Highway and Warrigal Road to reduce congestion and improve travel times.

Funding was provided in the 2019-2020 State Budget for Major Rood Projects Victoria to begin investigations to inform a Business Case.

What we heard about parking and traffic flow along South Road

Between July and August 2019, we consulted with residents, community members and local businesses to understand your parking habits and views on clearways as an option to improve traffic flow along South Road.

Below is a snapshot of the consultation.

Key themes

  • Majority of people surveyed are not happy with current traffic flow along South Road.
  • There was strong support for peak period clearways to help improve traffic flow.
  • The top three reasons for parking along South Road include living in the area, working and shopping.
  • The East Boundary Road, Nepean Highway and Jasper Road intersections are hotspots for congestion.
  • Safety is important.

This feedback is valuable and will be considered as we continue to undertake planning studies and develop the Business Case.
