Have your say

We asked for your input on what is important to you in the local area so we could better understand how you currently use the Mornington Peninsula Freeway and local road network, including your views on access, efficiency, and safety.

You had the opportunity to have your say between Wednesday 15 September and Wednesday 29 September 2021 by:

  • completing the traffic survey
  • dropping a pin on the interactive map to let us know what is important to you
  • asking us a question.

We’re undertaking important development work on behalf of the Australian Government to inform the potential upgrade of the Mornington Peninsula Freeway including traffic, environmental and social studies.

This development work will allow us to understand the environmental and social impact of the project, develop design options and confirm the project scope and costs.

We're currently in the early planning phase and our investigations are currently considering:

  • duplicating the Mornington Peninsula Freeway between Jetty Road and Boneo Road
  • upgrading the intersections along Mornington Peninsula Freeway at Jetty Road and Boneo Road
  • investigating noise mitigation between Rosebud and Dromana.

For more information on this project including scope of works, benefits and timelines please visit the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications website.

Next steps

Your feedback will be considered as part of the planning and development of the upgrade and will help shape the development of design options.

We’ll share a summary of the feedback on this page later this year.

Interim pedestrian improvements in the area

The Australian Government has committed $5 million to make it safer for pedestrians to cross the road at the southern Mornington Peninsula Freeway and Jetty Road roundabout in Rosebud.

The design will include a new signalised pedestrian crossing on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway, and traffic signals at selected entrances of the roundabout to manage traffic flow through the busy Jetty Road roundabout.

The development and delivery of these pedestrian safety improvements will be managed by VicRoads (now a part of the Department of Transport).
