We want children growing up in Miners Rest to be part of a rich, vibrant and supportive community. Schools are more than buildings - they are the heart of their neighborhoods. The new Miners Rest Primary School will be an opportunity to further shape and enhance the wider community.
To meet the needs of the growing local community and prepare for future students, the Victorian School Building Authority conducted extensive consultation and considered a number of options to expand Miners Rest Primary School. We have used feedback and suggestions from students, staff and the local community to help shape the designs, which have now been released.
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback. We have summarised your ideas to produce the Miners Rest What We Heard Community Engagement Report.
The latest designs include a new competition-grade gymnasium and football oval, which the broader community can use after-hours. The plans also include 10 new classrooms, new entry and administration, arts room, music room, food tech facilities, kitchen veggie garden, and landscaped open play areas.
The Victorian School Building Authority is now in the process of acquiring land to extend and upgrade Miners Rest Primary School.
The designs, as well as the What We Heard Community Engagement Report, are available on the VSBA website.
