On behalf of the Victorian Government, the Level Crossing Removal Project is removing 75 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2025.

The Reservoir level crossing was removed in December 2019 with a rail bridge over High Street and the construction of a brand-new Reservoir Station.

Finishing works will continue in 2020, with the installation of permanent stairs and lifts at the station, as well as landscaping works around the station precinct. Reinstatement the bus interchange, car parking and shared use path will be complete by mid 2020.

As part of the project, we’re also building a new public plaza and improving shared use paths for pedestrians and cyclists to create new direct connections between Edwardes Street and Broadway.

Before their removal, the boom gates at High Street were down for 24 minutes of the two-hour morning peak, causing delays for around 36,000 vehicles.
