CLOSED: This consultation has concluded.

We’re removing four level crossings in Preston at Murray Road, Cramer Street, Bell Street, Oakover Road. The rail line will be raised over the roads and two new elevated stations will be built at Preston and Bell.

Consultation for the project took place in December 2019. Since then, the project area has expanded:

  • for additional rail improvements to the Mernda line, including signalling and electrical upgrades
  • to allow land for construction site offices and storage areas.

We're seeking planning approval from the Minister for Planning under Clause 52.03 of the Darebin Planning Scheme to work in the amended project area.

You can find maps showing the amended project boundary to the right of this page for desktop, or at the bottom of the page for mobile.

We want to hear your feedback as directly affected residents, landowners and traders on the proposed planning approval changes. However, everyone with an interest in the project can make a submission.

Your feedback on the proposed work site boundaries and any other aspects of the project, such as amenity considerations or construction impacts are welcome.

Feedback will be provided to the Minister for Planning as part of the Planning Approval request.

Read more about the planning approval process in our Planning Approval Q&A.

Submissions close 5pm Friday 9 October.
