Overview

The Victorian Government is removing 18 level crossings and building 12 new stations as part of a $3 billion upgrade of the Frankston line that will improve safety, reduce congestion and allow more trains to run more often.

The level crossings at Neerim Road and Glen Huntly Road in Glen Huntly are two of the 18 crossings planned for removal along the Frankston line. These dangerous and congested level crossings will be removed by 2024, one year earlier than originally planned.

These two level crossings will be removed by lowering the line into a trench under Neerim Road and Glen Huntly Road. A new, modern Glenhuntly Station will be built as part of this project.

Early works will start in 2021. We are targeting removal of boom gates in 2023 with project completion in 2024.

Planning for this project is now underway and we are seeking feedback from the community to help shape the design of the project. We want to hear how you move around your neighbourhood, how you access and use public transport, and what you would like to see in and around the new Glenhuntly Station.

To facilitate this project, we will seek planning approval under Clause 52.03 Level Crossing Removal Project of the Glen Eira Planning Scheme. As part of this planning process we want your feedback on planning matters.

Feedback closes 11.59pm Sunday 29 November.
