On behalf of the Victorian Government, the Level Crossing Removal Project is overseeing the removal of 75 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2025.

The new direct connection from McLeod Road to Nepean Highway opened in February 2020 after a two-week construction-blitz that saw the removal of the dangerous and congested Station Street, Carrum Level Crossing and the new Carrum Station open.

The new McLeod Road connection creates safer connections for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists and will reduce rat running through local streets, making them safer and quieter.

Works will continue throughout 2020 to complete the new Carrum Station and create four new community open spaces as part of Carrum’s $50 million revitalisation.
