Overview

The level crossing at Koornang Road, Carnegie was removed in February 2018 as part of the Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project.

By building an elevated rail line, the project has opened up 22.5 hectares of open space and parkland for the community.

The Victorian Government made a commitment to protect the Woorayl Street Reserve and announced funding to improve the additional open space and provide parking.

As part of this project, we’ll be delivering new community recreational spaces located on Girdwood Avenue and Woorayl Street Reserve, and 28 additional car parks on Egan Street.

Pedestrian paths will connect the new open spaces to each other and to existing pedestrian and bike paths, and provide safe connections to local businesses and Carnegie Station.

We already know that Woorayl Street Reserve and additional car parking on Egan Street is a top priority for you.

We’re now inviting you tell us how you would like to use the space and what you think we should consider in its design.
