The Victorian Government is removing the level crossings at Bell Street in Coburg and Moreland Road in Brunswick.
Removing these level crossings will improve traffic flow, ease congestion and make it safer for people in the area.
Based on initial investigations, two feasible designs have been identified:
- raising the rail line over Bell Street and Moreland Road
- lowering the rail line under Bell Street and Moreland Road into an open trench.
These designs minimise disruption to the community, preserve the heritage-listed stations and allow for the potential removal of other level crossings on the Upfield line in future.
Road-based designs have been ruled out because they require significant compulsory property acquisition, have major impacts on the tram depot on Moreland Road and have permanent impacts on the shopping strips.
Please read the information about the designs before completing this feedback form.
Your feedback will help us to understand what is important to the community. In addition to further technical investigations, community feedback will be an important consideration as we develop the design for the removal of the level crossings.
Feedback closes on Thursday 9 August 2018.
As the project progresses, there will be further opportunities to provide feedback.
