On behalf of the Victorian Government, the Level Crossing Removal Project is removing 75 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2025.

Work is underway to remove the dangerous and congested level crossings at Bell Street, Reynard Street and Munro Street in Coburg and Moreland Road in Brunswick, by raising the rail over road.

The project will deliver new community open spaces, improved cycling and pedestrian connections, and new Coburg and Moreland station precincts.

As we develop detailed designs, we want to hear from locals to inform features of the rail bridge and new open space, including walking and cycling connections and landscaping options.

In May and June 2019, we talked to the community about your vision and priorities for the new open space and station precincts. In September, we asked you to help us refine the designs for the open space.

Feedback highlighted key themes important to the community including:

  • playgrounds
  • landscaping, vegetation and trees
  • walking and cycling
  • community areas.

We’re considering all the feedback we received from the community during 2019 and we’ll share the updated designs in mid 2020.
