The Goulburn Region

The Goulburn Region - which includes the shires of Moira, Strathbogie, Mitchell and Murrindindi, as well as the City of Greater Shepparton - is home to a diverse multicultural and indigenous population.

The region has a strong agricultural base with fertile soils, mild climate and good water resources helping to generate $6.1 billion in Gross Regional Product.

Goulburn’s beautiful natural environment includes national and regional parks and significant inland waterways.

Positive changes in the region include the rejuvenation of town centres and the roll out of the National Broadband Network, with plans in place for peri-urban growth.

But there are still areas where we can improve.

Goulburn also has high rates of youth and indigenous unemployment, our Year 12 retention rate is below the state average, and we are facing significant health challenges in some areas.
