This working group has been set up to explore the education implications identified within the report - 'Gippsland's Future Health and Community Services Workforce'.

The group will review the report and determine their key areas of focus together, but some examples of areas already being explored include:

- Local provision of education wherever possible

- Support services for students and for workers undertaking education

- Lifelong learning opportunities

- Coordinated practical placement opportunities

- Innovative models of delivery

- Alignment with careers practitioners

- Professional development

- Student recruitment

- Engagement with secondary schools

- Practical research opportunities

Report Recommendations:

- Delivery of programs in social work and allied health

- Key programs in place (like Nursing and Aged Care) are maintained

- Review of management and administration courses in sector

- Inclusion of 'enterprise skills' sets in existing qualifications

- School age children aware of opportunities

- Careers Counsellors provided with ongoing professional development
