The Guidelines for the investigation of gastroenteritis, last reviewed in 2010, are being revised. The revised guidelines will be updated with current best practice infection control recommendations as well as further detail covering the investigation of sporadic cases of gastroenteritis and food or water borne outbreak investigations.
A guide for the management and control of gastroenteritis outbreaks in care facilities provides industry professionals with information to assist in the investigation of outbreaks of gastrointestinal illness in care facilities under the provisions of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.
Information about changes in the guidelines are provided in the Summary of changes document, as well as in the updated draft document A guide for the management and control of gastroenteritis in care facilities. Both of these documents are located in the Document Library below.
