Hexion is seeking to construct and install a larger phenolic resin manufacturing facility at its existing site. The site is at Gate 3, 765 Ballarat Road, Deer Park.

The plan makes a range of resins for wood products for construction and phenolic industries. Phelonic resin is used in building and cladding to ensure compliance with current fire rating guidance.

You can see the full application (reference no. 1004161) in the ‘Supporting documents’ section of this page.

For more information on the works approval process see EPA works approvals (publication 1523.2).

What this application proposes

The proposed phenolic resin manufacturing facility will be added to Hexion’s current footprint. It would allow for greater volumes of resin production. The proposed new facility will replicate the current process undertaken at ‘Plant 4’.

It’s proposed to construct:

  • three layers of Reactor Unit Structure
  • bunded tank farm for raw materials and finish product storage
  • empty intermediate bulk container storage yard

It would tie into existing facilities as needed.
