Ace Recycling Group Pty Ltd (Ace Recycling) have applied for a development licence to establish an e-waste recycling facility located at 63 Albermarle Street Williamstown North, Victoria.

The facility will dismantle and recover materials from small electronic equipment (televisions, computers and IT peripherals). Less than 1000 m3 of e-waste will be stored on the site at any time. A copy of the development licence application (APP002633) and attachments can be viewed in the ‘Supporting documents’ section of this page.

What does the application propose?

Ace Recycling is seeking to establish and operate an electronic waste (‘e-waste’) reprocessing facility at 63 Albermarle Street North Williamstown.

The application proposes to process 4320 tonnes of e-waste per year. It requires a development licence prior to construction and an operating licence prior to operation because it exceeds the threshold for approval (500 tonnes per year).

The proposal involves manual dismantling of end-of-life electronic equipment such as computers, printers, laptops, servers and mobile phones into their major recyclable components. These parts will be sent to third party facilities for further downstream materials recovery.
