The Metro Tunnel Project will create a new end-to-end rail line from Sunbury to Cranbourne / Pakenham, with more modern trains, high capacity signalling and five new underground stations.
As part of the project, the Rail Infrastructure Alliance (RIA) is building the eastern entrance to the Metro Tunnel in South Yarra (Eastern Portal).
About the amendment
RIA is seeking an amendment to its existing Eastern Portal Development Plan to progress construction of rail services buildings, known as Communications Equipment Rooms (CER) and Signalling Equipment Rooms (SER), on the northern side of the rail corridor to deliver vital communications and signalling infrastructure for the Metro Tunnel. The proposed amendment also includes minor design changes and landscaping along the new Lovers Walk.
The proposed Development Plan amendment was available for public inspection and comment from Monday 13 July 2020 until 5pm on Friday 31 July 2020.
This page features site plans, artist’s impressions and information about the proposed updates to the Development Plan, as well as an online survey for you to provide your comments.
The Rail Infrastructure Alliance will consider the feedback provided during public display and include all community and stakeholder comments in a consultation report which summarises and responds to submissions made, and is provided to the Minister for Planning along with a copy of the draft amendment for consideration. We will respond to all submissions as part of this process.
