Feedback received during public consultation on the draft Code of Conduct for Building Surveyors helped shape the new code.

The code outlines the expected standard of professional conduct that building surveyors must meet.

There are eight core principles of behaviour that promote safety and competence in the building and construction industry. Under each core principle there are rules and examples to help building surveyors understand their obligations and apply the Code.

All building surveyors in Victoria will be required to comply with the code of conduct. Any contravention of the code of conduct may result in disciplinary action.

The code has now been approved and was published in the Victoria Government Gazette on 29 June 2020.

A copy of the code is available from the VBA website.
