Community Traffic Survey results
What we heard
Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the Community Traffic Survey to help inform the Dorset Road Extension and Napoleon Road Upgrade projects currently in planning and development with Major Road Projects Victoria.
The survey, open from 18 November to 16 December 2020, received over 2000 responses.
Key themes from the survey
- 66% of people surveyed identified Burwood Highway, down Glenfern Road, as the most popular north south movement in the local area
- A majority of people experience congestion from Burwood Highway, down Glenfern Road, and 37% of road users will sometimes use the local residential roads including Blackwood Park Drive, Henderson Street and Ormonde Road as an alternative route
- A majority of people think Glenfern and Napoleon roads experience the most significant congestion issues, with 56% experiencing 5-10-minute delays on Glenfern Road or Napoleon roads
- Regarding road safety, the majority of people found Burwood Highway, Brenock Park Drive and Glenfern Road safe or fair, but only 50% found Napoleon Road to be safe or fair
- The top three ways identified to improve both cycling and walking paths in the local area were to have more path connections, wider paths and improved path surfaces.
Your feedback is valuable to us and will be considered as we continue our planning studies and develop the business case for these projects.
As the projects progress, we will be reaching out to residents, businesses and other interested stakeholders to provide information and opportunities for feedback.
We’re undertaking planning and development work on behalf of the Australian Government for the Dorset Road Extension and Napoleon Road Upgrade projects.
Our planning and investigations will consider the extension of Dorset Road from Burwood Highway in Ferntree Gully to Lysterfield Road in Lysterfield.
Our development work for Napoleon Road Upgrade will consider adding an extra lane in each direction between Lysterfield Road and Kelletts Road in Rowville.
This development work will allow us to understand the environmental and social impact of the projects, develop design options and confirm the project scope and costs.
The results of the survey will be considered by the Project Team undertaking the planning and development for these projects.
