Overview

The Victorian Independent Remuneration Tribunal (Tribunal) is required to set the value of the basic salary, additional salaries and work-related parliamentary allowances provided to Victorian Members of Parliament (MPs).

As part of making its Determination, the Tribunal is required to comprehensively review the existing basic salary, additional salaries, work-related parliamentary allowances, the Electorate Office and Communications Budget and superannuation and pension arrangements.

The Tribunal is using the questionnaire below to learn about your views on what the role of an MP is, how the Tribunal should consider MP pay and how you engage with your local MP. Alternatively, or in addition, you may wish to make a written submission.

The Tribunal is committed to protecting personal information provided by you in accordance with the principles of the Victorian privacy laws.

Submissions provided to the Tribunal will inform the analysis of the current salaries and allowances and provide input to the Determination. Submissions are anonymous, however, any information collected, including free text comments, may be published as part of the Determination.

The Tribunal does not allow external access to confidential submissions. However, the Tribunal may receive a request under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic). Any FOI requests will be determined in accordance with the Act. The Act has provisions designed to protect personal information and information given in confidence.
