The creative industries are an evolving mix of sectors spanning arts, culture, screen, music, design, games development, fashion, publishing and more.

Pre-pandemic, these industries collectively contributed $33.9 billion to Victoria's economy and employed 292,000 Victorians.

Victoria’s creative industries largely comprise small organisations, micro businesses and sole practitioners. They operate within a creative ecosystem that extends from iconic cultural attractions and global businesses to educational institutions, government bodies and community groups.

Victoria’s creative industries work on a global stage and they contribute to local communities at a grass roots level.

They reflect, define and animate Victoria’s identity and our way of life – and have a vital role to play in the state’s social, economic and cultural recovery post COVID-19.
