Current civil fees for the County Court of Victoria are set by the County Court (Fees) Interim Regulations 2017 (the Existing Fee Regulations). These Existing Fee Regulations expire on 14 December 2018.

The Government is proposing to introduce new civil fees for the County Court. It is intended that the new fees will be included in the proposed County Court (Fees) Regulations 2018 (the Proposed Fee Regulations).

The Regulatory Impact Statement and the Proposed Fee Regulations below contain more information about the proposed fees and the expected impacts.

This is your opportunity to have your say about the proposed new fees. Submissions are invited on the Regulatory Impact Statement and the Proposed Fee Regulations.

In particular, the Regulatory Impact Statement invites responses regarding whether:

  • a differentiated fee system is likely to improve access to the County Court;
  • the Concession Fee is appropriately set at $250.00 (in 2018-19 or 17.3 fee units), with a minimum fee of $14.50 (in 2018-19 or 1 fee unit); and
  • there might be potential problems for litigants in satisfying the County Court of their fee payer status.

Contributions close 23 September 2018.

All submissions will be treated as public documents and published on the Engage Victoria website, unless the submission clearly indicates that it is confidential.
