WorkSafe Victoria (WorkSafe), in collaboration with key stakeholders is undertaking the review of the proposed Communicating occupational health and safety (OHS) across languages compliance code (the code) on behalf of the Victorian Government.

The code provides practical guidance for those who have duties or obligations under Victoria’s Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (OHS Act) and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2017 (OHS Regulations) to communicate OHS matters in appropriate languages.

The code needs to be updated to reference the current state of knowledge and better reflect Victorian work practices. The proposed changes will help employers and employees across a range of industries to more easily comply with the OHS Act and the OHS Regulations.

Employers, employees, other interested parties and members of the public are invited to make submissions on the proposed code now available for public comment.
