The Essential Services Commission determines maximum fares for unbooked commercial passenger vehicle services in Melbourne, Ballarat, Bendigo, and Geelong. The most common unbooked commercial passenger vehicles are taxis, hailed either from a rank or from the street.

Our final decision on unbooked commercial passenger vehicle maximum fares includes

  • Keeping maximum fares stable
  • Introducing an optional ‘time and distance’ fare structures
  • Introducing a cleaning fee
