Consultation on draft EES Scoping Requirements for the Bunyip North Quarry is now closed.
Hanson Construction Materials Pty Ltd (Hanson) is proposing to develop a granite quarry in Bunyip North. The proposed site is located on Sanders Road, Bunyip North. Hanson proposes to extract an estimated 70 to 100 million tonnes of granite from the site over a period of about 80 to 120 years.
The project is in the preliminary stages. No approval has been granted and quarrying operations have not yet commenced. The Minister for Planning has decided that an Environment Effects Statement (EES) assessment will be required.
The Department of Environment, Planning, Land, Water and Planning will be responsible for administering the EES process on behalf of the Minister. The EES will describe potential environmental effects of the proposed project, assess relevant alternatives and outline how to manage environmental effects.
