The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) is leading the development of the Water Cycle Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan 2022-2026, the first to be released under the Climate Change Act 2017.
Climate Change Adaptation Action Plans are being developed for seven systems that are either vulnerable to climate change impacts or are essential to ensure Victoria is prepared. These areas or ‘systems’ are Primary Production, Built Environment, Education and Training, Health and Human Services, Transport, Natural Environment, and the Water Cycle.
The Water Cycle Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan 2022-2026 builds on the Pilot Water Sector Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan released in 2018, taking a systems-based approach to adaptation and how it relates to the other systems developing Adaptation Action Plans.
The Water Cycle Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan, informed by the adaptation priorities in Victoria's Climate Change Strategy, will guide adaptation across the water cycle system. Adaptation action plans will continue to be developed and implemented every five years until 2050, providing a long-term plan for climate change adaptation.
Your feedback will be considered for the final Water Cycle Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan due to be published in late 2021.
