Background
The Victorian School Building Authority and Development Victoria want to hear your views on the design of the Fitzroy Gasworks Precinct, including their plans for a new senior campus for Collingwood College and Fitzroy High School on the site.
Development Victoria has been working closely with the Fitzroy North community over the past two years. They have introduced the project and gathered community feedback through a series of workshops, community and reference group meetings, Facebook comments, and an online survey. They collated more than 2,500 individual comments to help shape their draft concept plan.
Key themes emerging from this earlier engagement, and considered in the draft masterplan, include:
- recreation and open space
- built form, housing and land use options
- community facilities and amenities
- transport - including cycling facilities, car parking, public transport, and walkability
- heritage - including indigenous heritage, art and streetscapes, and the site's history
- environment - including green space, sustainable design and site remediation
- planning process, community engagement and funding models.
The next stage of community engagement follows approval of the planning scheme amendment, and the start of investigative works for the remediation action plan. Development Victoria is undertaking this in partnership with the Victorian School Building Authority to advise about remediation works, and discuss the design proposal for the broader site and the senior secondary campus.
Hearing what’s most important to you helps us plan the school and tailor the precinct for the greatest benefit of the community.
